Seamen are known for an endless list of things to avoid not to attract bad luck. Let’s have a look at just a few. Apart from women on board (unless is a wooden one on the bow), sailors are afraid of red sky in the morning, ginger people, whistling aboard, killing an albatross and carrying bananas! The last one might seem especially absurd but some theories suggest that the ships with this fruit as a cargo used to disappear much more often and were significantly unluckier in terms of catch.
